UPDATE: The 2019 Short-Term Rental Declaration form will be made available on the website by January 1st, 2019.
The community has, on multiple occasions, received, via mail, mass-solicitations to rent out their homes. Unfortunately, the Association cannot prohibit such mailings, as addresses are 'free information' available to anyone with a computer or access to the information found in places such as Tax Sifter. Please remember that even if you receive such an advertisement, Sun Cove has a Short-Term Rental cap, which means annual short-term rental status cannot be guaranteed to you in any way.
The 2019 Short-Term Rental Declaration form will be made available on the website as soon as it is finalized, so check back here for updates.

WINE TASTING CANCELLED 10.28.18
For around a decade or so, Sun Cove members have enjoyed the annual Wine Tasting, chaired by Alzira Zollo-Dean. However, she was not able to host the event this year, so the Wine Tasting must be cancelled for 2018. Remember, Sun Cove events must be chaired by its members to continue to exist. The event may be moved to October of 2019. Maybe we'll see you again next year!
POOL CLOSED 10.19.18
The pool is closed for the season! It was an unseasonably cool summer and fall came early, but the pool, as a big symbol of Sun Cove, was still enjoyed by many. To read more about how and when the pool is closed, click HERE. See you again next year!
SUN COVE QUESTIONNAIRE 9.28.18
Thank you to the 195 members who have responded to date. The electronic submission deadline has been extended! If you have not taken the electronic survey and wish to do so, click the button below. On October 20th, 2018, a paper version of the Questionnaire will be mailed to those who have not answered the electronic Questionnaire. This paper version is also available for pickup at the Associaton Office.
Please remember, the purpose of the Questionnaire is directional only. It is for gaining guidance from the members as to what particular way they would prefer the Board pursue handling the situation with the County regarding drainage and encroachments. The Questionnaire is not meant for, nor will it be used for, the purpose of allocating money at this time.
Very recently, the County sent a letter that appears to be going to the entire membership. To review this letter CLICK HERE.
COUNTY CORRESPONDENCE 9.21.18
On September 18th, a Questionnaire was sent to the members who have signed up to receive electronic correspondence from the Association (such as the E-Newsletter). A paper version of the Questionnaire will be mailed to those who either do not answer the electronic Questionnaire, or who are not signed up to receive E-Notifications.
The latest letter from the Douglas County commissioners, their response to Sun Cove's request for a meeting, can be found HERE.
WHEN DOES THE POOL CLOSE? 9.15.18
UPDATE: THE POOL WILL BE CLOSING SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2018!
The pool closing is always weather-dependent, but it's traditinoally been closed around the middle of October (October 15th). CLICK HERE to read more about Sun Cove's pool opening and closing FAQ. The pool is still open as of 9.15.18, but it's been an unusually-cool summer and we appear to be having an early fall, so the heaters are struggling to keep the temperature up. Stay tuned for scheduling updates; the pool is still open, but since it's an outdoor pool (and big), definitely don't expect it to be balmy!
WINE TASTING CHAIR NEEDED 9.15.18
For around a decade or so, Sun Cove members have enjoyed the annual Wine Tasting, chaired by Alzira Zollo-Dean and Michael Dean. However, this year they do not plan on hosting the event, so unless someone steps up to chair it--including securing and coordinating with the winery--the 2018 Wine Tasting must be cancelled.

KEYCARD SYSTEM COMPLETE! 9.10.18
The vendor has finally finished installing the new access control system on both the clubhouse and compactor! Both the clubhouse and the compactor will require the usage of one of your new keycards (click HERE to see what they look like). The old keycards (HERE) will no longer be functional and may be disposed of as you see fit.
The system is planned to go LIVE on September 14th!
New systems often come with initial challenges--If you experience any difficulty, just drop by the office and we'll get you taken care of. New keycards were mailed to the membership in June. If you never receieved yours, we can deactivate the cards that were mailed to you and issue you two new ones at the office.
GOLF CART OR NOT GOLF CART? 8.27.18
Last year, due to the matter of questionable golf cart classifications being brought to the Association's attention, it was decided at the August 11, 2017 Board Meeting that golf cart permits that had been issued to such vehicles could no longer be considered valid and had to be exchanged for existing vehicular parking passes (CLICK HERE to read more about it in the News Archive).
However, after it was requested of the Board to review this decision, an amendment has been made that allows an exception for GEM carts, as GEM carts have a max speed of 25 mph and are actually used on golf courses. As such, consensus was that they would be allowed classic golf cart permits in the community, rather than require one of each property's two hanging parking permits.
CLICK HERE to read about it in the 7.20.18 BOD Meeting Minutes (Page 3, "Staff Report" section).
LONG-RANGE PLAN MEETING 8.20.18
Bill Tucker, chair of the Long-Range Planning Committee, has planned a membership Long-Range Planning meeting to solidify the future of Sun Cove! The meeting will take place on September 1st, in the clubhouse at 2:00pm. Along with being a forum for members to share ideas and feedback, the meeting will include an interactive workshop to help refine prioritized amenities and bring members up to date on where the Association stands in its research, financial models and other information.
Stop by the clubhouse after the Chili Cook-Off and help guide Sun Cove's future!

WILDFIRE SEASON 8.03.18
OUTSIDE ACTIVITY IS NOT CURRENTLY RECOMMENDED!
This year has seen fires in many of the immediate areas surrounding Sun Cove, such as the Chelan Hills Fire, the Turtle Rock Fire, 25 Mile Creek Fire, and the Navarre Coulee Fire. Air quality may rise and fall, so check the webcam if you're curious, or sites like THIS one. Remember, open flames, including fireworks, are prohibited within the community, barring gas-powered grills and fire pits. Consider reducing your yard waste, clearing your empty lot of sagebrush, and being mindful of how you dispose of cigarettes. Let's continue to help our community stay safe from the dangers of fire!
LIFE JACKET STATION 8.03.18
For his Eagle Scout project, Austin Wheeler, son of community members Karla and Bryan Wheeler, proposed building a Life Jacket Loaner station within Sun Cove to the Board in February, which was approved. The station is now functional! If you have need of a life jacket, simply borrow one of your size and return it at the end of your use.
Many thanks to Austin for this great contribution to the community!

Resources are currently being gathered for the new access control system, which will be installed around the time of Memorial Weekend (May 26th - 28th, 2018). Keep watch on the website for updates!
The Association will be unable to issue members new keycards until after the new access control system is installed, so be sure to keep a close eye on the keycards you have--if you lose them, you'll be out of luck!
MARINA SAFETY REMINDER 5.06.18
Last year several people risked damaging their watercraft when they attempted to leave the third cove by eyeballing the channel, which, in reality, is far narrower than it appears to be to the naked eye. The Association is not responsible for the personal vehicles or watercraft of the members, but Facilities and Maintenance Manager Jason Knight valiantly swam out with the assistance of Curtis Rabey, assistant Grounds-keeper, and chained down a red warning buoy to ward people away from the harmful rocks. Be sure to navigate the water accordingly! Click the button below for a pic.
THANKS TO MARK AND LINDA ENSLOW FOR THE PICTURE!

BAT PROGRAM DEADLINE PAST 4.29.18
The deadline for opting into the Association's reduced-rate backflow-assembly testing program has passed! We are no longer accepting Program Opt-Ins.
Most Sun Cove residents qualify for submitting mandatory annual backflow assembly tests, per state and Sun Cove regulations. If you are unsure of whether or not you qualify, give the office a call or drop us an email. If you turned in a test last year, chances are high that you must submit a test this year, as well.
Consult the list below for backflow-assembly testers if you missed the date but still need your device tested. Remember, in most cases the Association must receive an annual backflow assembly test for your property by the absolute deadline of September 1st, 2018, for you to avoid having your water shut off.

POOL RESURFACING PROJECT 3.19.18
The Sun Cove pool is getting a makeover this spring! A vendor will be resurfacing the pool and creating an area that will be tailored to make entry easier for those who desire assistance. The pool will also be fitted with color-changing lights! The contractors have strict hours of operation, but will be making some noise as they help make the pool the best it can be, so be aware of that possibility. The projected reopening of the pool is on May 15th, weather-dependent. CLICK HERE and you just might see them at work!
POWER OUTAGE NOTIFICATION 3.17.18
The PUD notified the Association today that there is a scheduled power outage for this area, which will take place on Wednesday 21, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:30am.
The outage is necessary to perform preventative maintenance, so be aware that you may lose power during this time and plan ahead!
YARD WASTE PICKUP 3.12.18
For the last two years the Association has sponsored a tailored yard waste pickup service for its members in the interest of clearing potential fire hazards from the community. The Association plans to offer this service again in 2018! CLICK HERE for the details on this year's flyer. Staff will be picking up your yard waste by hand, so please read carefully to meet all necessary conditions. Call if you have any questions!
CHILD & PET SAFETY 2.27.18
UPDATE 2.27.18 - The cougar has been spotted again on Otto Ross's property, and is reportedly the size of a dog. Cougars are crepuscular (most active at dawn and dusk, as well as at nighttime), so please be extra careful during these times and stay safe!
12.26.17 - This time of year can be dangerous for pets; many wild animals are pressed for food and range ever further to find it. This is country, and wildlife is always close even when we can't see it in the daytime. It was recently reported that community member Otto Ross's peacock was taken by what appears to have been a cougar, based upon the tracks. Keep a watchful eye on your pets and children!
COVENANT CHANGE 2.26.18
A Covenant Amendment would be necessary to enforce requests for the reduction of fire hazards on members' property and to establish a community-wide standard of aesthetics, to protect property values. CLICK HERE to see a drafted section of Rules that would address safety and aesthetic concerns within the community.
If you're interested in such a Covenant Amendment, please complete the following survey, which will be used to determine the desire of the membership!
UPDATE - Thank you for participating in our survey!! The survey is closed as of 3.20.18. If you'd like to request the survey be reopened for you CLICK HERE.
PARKING PERMITS 2.25.18
UPDATE: The Association mailed out your annual parking permits on Friday, April 6th, along with the 2018 Curbside Firewise Pickup Service flyer! Watch for them in the mail. If you haven't kept your contact information current your permits will not reach their proper destination.
The Association recently made the decision to switch to annually-issued parking permits in order to better control and monitor parking within the community. Your current parking passes are valid until the new passes are mailed out. Keep an eye on the website for updates as to when this mailing will occur, and remember, you will only be receiving the insert that will go in the plastic sleeve you received last year, so be sure not to throw away your plastic hanging permit sleeves!
BACKFLOW TESTING PROGRAM 2.17.18
Most Sun Cove residents qualify for submitting mandatory annual backflow assembly tests, per state and Sun Cove regulations. Last year, Sun Cove contracted a Backflow Assembly Tester and launched a testing program that members could opt into. It was a learning experience for everybody and the Association hopes that this year's program will be even better. Letters have been sent to all members who qualify, or may qualify, for testing. Look for your letter in the mail! To learn more about cross-connection prevention, CLICK HERE, or contact your Water Manager.
If you receive your letter but are interested in opting in electronically instead, CLICK HERE to request access to the digital form on the website. Note that the Association will not consider opt-in forms valid until the appropriate payment has also been received at the office by way of a check mailed and made out to Lake Entiat Estates.
SHORT-TERM RENTAL LOTTERY 2.16.18
The 20 approved short-term rental properties for 2018 have been chosen via the lottery procedure, as outlined in the Covenants! The lottery took place on February 15th at the Association office. The lottery for choosing 2018's Association-sanctioned short-term rental properties will take place February 15th, 10am at the Associaton office. If you'd like to be a lottery conductor, CLICK HERE. There is also still time to apply for short-term rental status if you submit the application document, found HERE.
